In the 2014/2015 School Year, Gifford C. Cole Middle School began utilizing Restorative Justice and related practices. In prior years, the school had a history of some of the highest rates of suspensions and expulsions in Los Angeles County. The school proactively integrated Restorative Justice with the district's initial implementation of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports. The results of the approach yielded a significant reduction in the school's suspension and expulsion rates.
